Saving Dollars and Making Cents: My Favorite Money-Saving Apps

As promised, today I bring you my favorite SmartPhone apps that make saving money even easier!

The first app is simply called 'Coupons'.  This app features four-options upon launch:  Coupon Codes,  In-Store Offers, Card Linked Offers, and Grocery Coupons.  Today we are going to focus on the Grocery Coupons option.

This portion of the app works much like Coupons.com and other popular printable coupon websites.  Browse through the available coupons and 'clip' those that you would like to print.  When you are finished, you can choose to print or email the coupons.  (I always choose to email the coupons to myself and print them from our desktop computer.  We do have a printer with wireless capabilities, but I've never taken the time to set it up to do so.) You can print two copies of each coupon.

I love this app, for a multitude of reasons, but two in particular.  I love the 'search' feature if I am looking for a coupon for a specific brand.  For instance, if I am on the hunt for a Gillette coupon, I can search for Gillette and bring up all coupons for that particular brand versus scrolling through the abundance of coupons available.  I also love the fact that the app keeps track of the total amount one would save if he or she chose to use every coupon clipped.  I think keeping track of how much you save is a great method of positive reinforcement and will keep you motivated.

The second app is called Ibotta.  This app features rebates on a variety of items.  Some are brand specific, others are not.  Using this app, I received a $0.50 rebate on a gallon of milk.  Coupons for milk do not appear often, so this app is a great way to save money on those items.  Simply browse for the store you will be shopping at, claim your offers, and upload your receipt after your trip.  Ibotta will add the rebates to your account, and you can cash out by transferring the funds from your Ibotta account to PayPal or Venmo.  (Both PayPal and Venmo require a $5 minimum transfer, so keep that in mind.) Offers change weekly, so be sure to take advantage of the great deals soon after you claim the offer.

You can sign up for Ibotta using this link: https://ibotta.com/r/oapvbxr.

The final app that I've been using is very similar to Ibotta, and is called Checkout 51.  Offers update weekly and go live at midnight on Thursday, and are good through the following Wednesday until 11:59 PM.  When your Checkout 51 account reaches $20, they will mail you a check.

Do you use any SmartPhone apps to help you save?  Please share; I would love to hear all about them!
